Small Garland, Texas, House

One thing that the field investigators of the ASUP have learned, over and over again, is that things are not always as they are reported or seen by others.  A recent case in Garland TX only proves that hypothesis, where a reported “Dark Spirit” was reported cohabiting in the 50 year old home of a gainfully employed couple in a middle income suburb. The subject house was occupied by only one other person in its history, the mother of a prominent Law Enforcement office and she was in her 90s when she died peacefully.

During the initial research phase of the study it was reported the present occupants moved into the home in 2003. Recently, house guests reported a large (6’6” tall) black figure in the house, causing one guest to run completely from the house. Shortly after this incident, her husband admitted that he was aware of the “entity” which he said had been with him for many years.  The wife also noted that there was another “Ghost” in the house as well.  They both maintain separate “home offices” in the house and are employed by the same corporation.

When the ASUP investigators arrived, we found that the husband was not comfortable with our visit. He apparently suffers from a social disorder and is not comfortable with anyone being in the home.  The team set up a control area to the rear of the house; video cameras were set, as well as recording devices, and then team members went about their investigations in pairs.

To the rear of the property is an enormous electric company facility.  Team members immediately recognized that no matter where they did EMF tests, the ambient reading on the grounds was in excess of 40.0, about 4,000 times the norm. It was also noted that the grounds showed signs of an old, collapsed storm cellar and other structures, including a well head.  There were electrical lines going to and from the house to an outbuilding that led nowhere and strong EMF readings from the ground where there could be buried but unshielded cables.

The teams found that there was a good deal of energy, odd feelings and other paranormal cues in the husband’s office. The EMF readings inside the house were high from the outside interference, but the hallway outside the husband’s office was steady at 10.0.  Inside is office, which is filled with electric guitars, a keyboard, drums, and electronics, as well as a computer, team members saw virtually half the batteries in their equipment die, even though protocol calls for team members to be sure the batteries are fresh before beginning field work.

About half way through the field work, the wife asked when we would be leaving, that her husband was hungry and wanted to go out to eat. We had been actively in the house for less than an hour.  The wife finally decided that they could go and come back before we were done.

It was noted that the house is filled with swords, a bear trap on the wall and the husband’s office is totally black, with black painted walls, foil on the windows that are also painted.  During the investigation, the husband never left his “office” and continued to play video games as the team worked around him.

After the clients left, the team decided to do a K-2 session.  We immediately were contacted by the original owner of the property, who successfully confirmed her identify by answering yes or no questions that only the researchers had learned.  It was established that the tall black entity was in the house exclusively and that he had been created by someone in the house.

When the clients came home, the husband was not friendly at all.  He said he wanted to make some coffee and wanted the teams recorders moved from the countertop.  He then made two cups of coffee, gave one to his wife and removed himself from the room and back into his office without offering team members a drink. Shortly thereafter the wife called her husband to come out and the team leader gave them his understanding of the case.  The husband readily acknowledged he had known about the entity, leaving the team a bit confused as to why they had called us to investigate in the first place.

Following this visit, all team members filed their individual reports and were in agreement that this was not a haunting per se. The Director’s decided that there was nothing more they could do in this situation and voted to close the case and advise the wife of their findings.   That same evening, a team member called in to report that her child was sitting with her on their front porch and said she could see an odd looking man across the street.  When asked for more details, the little girl (age 3) asked her mother "who is (and then articulated the husband’s name from the investigation)".  She then said she was seeing an orange entity with red hair standing at their home’s front gate and that he was asking the little girl to invite him in. She further noted that his name was Christian or something similar.

Further research found that CRISPIN is a video game character, an elfin entity that does his master’s bidding in the game, which had similar features to the “person” who wanted to be invited into their home. But when the team leader asked the wife in the case, in a subsequent telephone interview, if she knew if her husband played that game on his computer, she laughed and said no, but that she did, correcting the character’s name to Crispen.

The activity originally reported on the property seemed relatively easy to explain, reports of things moving on their own suggested a common poltergeist phenomenon stemming from some sort of interpersonal conflicts between the clients.  The black entity reported by the house guest seemed to be something raised by a resident of the house, possibly for protection, while the “ghost” who communicated with the team was most probably the old woman who originally owned the property. This just left the question of why the team had been invited to do an investigation, if the clients already knew the answers. That question still puzzles the Directors; most people who attempt to raise an entity do not want someone to confirm its existence.

Based on the team’s years of experience, it was ascertained that the ASUP had performed as requested in confirming the probable activities in the house. It is not however our mandate to become involved in cases that require psychological intervention. Because it is not our purpose to become involved in a case like this one, it was suggested that professional counseling be sought after by both parties and the Directors of the ASUP agreed to close this case.
