Rarely you have the Demonic . . . Disclaimer: Over the years, the ASUP has encountered only a handful of cases that would be considered to have a demonic link, two of which we are outlining on the web. The Third however can’t be published because of constraints by those involved. The second, this case, would have to be categorized as a possible demonic “infestation,” because it involved a place, rather than a specific person. Demonic possession involves human beings who are apparently controlled by a demonic force. This can even be true, at least in theory in animals. These theories are subject, at least for the ASUP to fit parameters that exist within organized religions because only certain religious groups have a mechanism to deal with them, including the Catholics, Greek Orthodox, Hassidic Jews and certain Moslem sects. When the ASUP considers categorizing a case as possibly demonic, either possession or infestation, we look to the guidelines that already exist in those religions because the demonic is simply a religious manifestation to begin with for the most part. The demonic case is extremely rare, the ASUP has encountered only three in over 35 years and to deal with it requires the intersession of properly prepared religious and should never be undertaken by non-religious, such as ordained priests, rabbis or mullahs or those that are authorized to do so by the church. Sometimes an individual properly trained, will be authorized to investigate a possible case, but they will tell you this is not for the faint of heart or weak in their beliefs. Even within a church system, only certain, specially prepared religious will be authorized to proceed in such cases, many having not just religious training, but advanced degrees in medicine or psychology.
