Old Loves Die Hard

In a small central Texas town lives a woman with a secret.  She is a single Mom, but she is the target of a lover’s crush. Nothing news worthy there, that happens all the time you might say, but this case has a twist worthy of the ASUP’s attention.  Her admirer is very, very dead.

As the resident notes, it all started with a friend of her former husband; the threesome went everywhere together.  The friend was married, but didn’t say much about anything; a total introvert.  When she and her ex were in the process of divorce, so too was the friend, although our client had no knowledge of the facts in that situation. Shortly after her divorce, he husband’s friend committed suicide. A sad story but nothing new and if we were called to investigate that man’s home, we would not be surprised to find a presence in residence, but the client says that there was no relationship, not really even what could be called a friendship between the suicide victim and herself, her only connection was through her now former husband. Preliminary findings caught the attention of the ASUP’s researcher; an active haunting that is centered in one home, where the reported ghost was not a resident. We agreed to take it further and scheduled a full investigation.

A full investigation team descended on the client’s home on Saturday and the house was wired for audio and video.  Teams of two or three did lengthy walk-throughs, capturing more than 23 possible EVPs, while the coordinator re-interviewed the client and a close friend.  The team recognized that there was an overwhelming presence, following them as they investigated, the same feeling shared by the client.  She further reported a dark figure flitting from room to room. This was a joint investigation, employing members of both ASUP Texas teams, which turned out 18 investigators.

These investigators reported hearing audible whispers, EMF spikes, cold and even a warm spot in the house. One lamp was said to have turned itself on and there were several power failures by team member’s equipment throughout the evening.  After the initial walk through, a K-II session was held. The answers seemed to indicate that it was indeed the former husband’s friend haunting the property and his fascination with the client.

Following our visit, further research found that the suicide was a way for the individual to strike out.  He apparently did not know how to communicate to those closest to himself, but lashed out with several notes at the scene that suggested that they did not listen to him.  It was also confirmed that the client was unaware of it, but that the dead man was infatuated with her for several years, although he never voiced those feelings.

Unlike most cases, this one is being held open until further notice.  The spirit is still active here and while he poses no current threat that could change in the future.  The client has been advised that she must take the first step by telling her unwanted house guest, that he is not welcome. Until that time, we will take a wait and see attitude towards the next logical step, namely the cleansing of the house to rid it of this unwelcome spirit.
