Dear Prospective Member:

The ASUP is always trying to make things easier for its members and we have had several comments about the length of time it takes to become a field investigator and be allowed to join the teams in the field.

We realize that it is inconvenient for many of you to dedicate a Sunday for training, which has been our practice to date.  In order to make the process easier, we will now institute a new qualifications screening process.

We have instituted a new rule recently that we will no longer accept dual-memberships.  If you already belong to another paranormal group, you must now choose between that group and ASUP because of the dependability we need from our members, as well as the time it takes to attend investigations and complete our reports and evidence collecting process afterward.

  1. Download, fill out, and return the official ASUP Application for membership located here and email back to us at the e-mail address listed on the application.
  2. Review the materials on the website, which can all be downloaded from the Reports & Forms page or read online at www.asup-inc.org .
  3. Download the official ASUP Basic Investigators exam from the website located here.
  4. This is an open book test. You can refer to the training materials online to answer the questions in this exam.
  5. Send the finished exam back to us to the e-mail address listed on the form.
  6. If you do not have Microsoft Word, then go to Reports & Forms, download the Adobe Acrobat materials, fill in the forms, and mail them to the post office box listed above and on the forms themselves.

Within 24 hours the exam will be graded.  If you score an 80% or better, you will be mailed your certificate as a basic field investigator.  If you fail, you get to take the test once more.  Sorry, only two tries.  If you fail again, you will have to go through the regular training session.

Of course, you could just wait for the next training session and be qualified that way; the choice is now yours. Our aim is to make this easier for the applicant and streamline the process so we can get you into the field sooner.  It will also eliminate anyone who files the initial application, but fails to attend training.  New applications will be held by the directors only until the next formal training session.

I hope this will help all of you.

Regards,
